Byond Tech Launches Three New Android 4.0 Mi-Book Laplet Models; Prices Start At Rs 6300
Air-mouse on ICS-based L1+ and L9; L1 has only keypad accessory.
If the Surface tab disappointed you, or if you want a more economical tablet-plus-netbook option, then Byond Tech's Mi-Book Laplet range can be something to consider. The company has announced three new models, the L1, L1+ and L9+, all of which run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). You can attach a keypad to these and use them as Android-based netbooks as well.
There is little to differentiate the three slates. Here is the detailed list of specifications:
Byond Mi-Book L1 / L1+
- 7" capacitive 5-point multi-touch screen with pixel dimensions of 800x480.
- Android 4.0.4 (ICS); Google Play support.
- Cortex-A8 1.2 GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM.
- 0.3 megapixel front camera, no rear camera.
- 4 GB of internal storage; 32 GB microSD card slot.
- Full HD and 3D video playback; 1 pair of 3D glasses.
- Wi-Fi, USB OTG, 3G support (via external dongle); no Bluetooth, no HDMI-Out, no SIM support.
- 3200 mAh Li-ion battery with claimed 6 hours of video streaming.
While the L1 and L1+ are the same tablet, the L1 (priced at Rs 6300) comes with a keypad accessory. The L1+ replaces the keypad with an air-mouse, which inflates the price tag to Rs 6800.
Byond Mi-Book L9+

- Wi-Fi, USB OTG, 3G support (via external dongle); no Bluetooth, no HDMI-Out, no SIM support.
- 6000 mAh Li-ion battery with claimed 6 hours of videos streaming.
Similar to the L1+, the L9+ also ships with an air-mouse. It is priced at Rs 9000.
