Nokia Announces Asha 205 In Single SIM And Dual SIM Variants
Both feature new sharing technology called "Slam", 0.3 MP camera, and isolated QWERTY keyboard.
The Nokia Asha series has been doing pretty well; joining the Asha family is the Nokia Asha 205, launched today. This handset, which comes in single-SIM and dual-SIM variants, has a full QWERTY keyboard with isolated keys and dedicated Facebook and Messaging buttons. The Asha 205 debuts the new sharing technology from Nokia called "Slam." It's a way to instantly send files over Bluetooth to the nearest device. Removing the need to pair your phones, Slam sends files directly to the closest device after confirmation with the receiver. The receiving phone doesn't need to have Slam, and it doesn't need to be a Nokia, either.
The 0.3 mp camera, though, is a sore point — you probably won't find it good enough for pictures to post on Facebook. Looks-wise, it's pretty decent: The Asha 205 comes in cyan, magenta, and orange, with trendy two-tone mixes. Here are the detailed tech specs:
- Series 40 Asha.
- GSM 850/900/1800/1900.
- 2.4" 65k colour QVGA landscape QWERTY TFT display.
- VGA camera.
- Up to 10MB free user memory; up to 32GB micro-SD card.
- Dedicated Facebook and messaging buttons.
- Nokia Slam.
- GPRS/EDGE, 2.0 mm Charger Connector, Bluetooth v2.1 with EDR, 3.5 mm AV connector.
- 4.44" (h) x 2.4" (w) x 0.51" (d); weighs 94 grams.
- 37 days standby with up to 11 hours talk-time.
The technical specifications of the Nokia Asha 205 Dual SIM are almost the same, except that it offers a slightly lower standby time (25 days versus 37 days). The recent tie-up with EA means that users can download 40 premium games for free. The Nokia Asha 205 will cost around $62 (Rs 3500).
