Rumour: Samsung Working On Android 4.1 GALAXY Premier
The Jelly Bean handset might feature a 4.6" screen, 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU, and an 8 mp camera.
Samsung has sold millions of smartphones, but it still doesn't seem to have hired an actual team of designers. The GALAXY S Duos borrowed its design from the GALAXY S III (GS3), and the GALAXY S III Mini looks no different either. If that weren't enough to confuse consumers, Samsung is working on the GALAXY Premier handset, which looks much like the GS3. This is still in rumour-stage, though: An image of the upcoming device has emerged from evleaks' Twitter account, which is well-known for leaking handset info before launch — with some amount of accuracy.
From the image, the Galaxy Premier's model number seems to be GT-I9260, which is quite close to the GS3's I9300. According to SamMobile.com, which closely follows Samsung-related news, the phone will probably be powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU. It could sport a 4.65" Super AMOLED+ screen with an 8 mp camera. On the software front, the Galaxy Premier will feature Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Here's the complete list of (rumoured) features:
- 4.65" Super AMOLED+ screen.
- 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU.
- Camera 8 mp rear camera, 2 mp front camera.
- 8 GB / 16 GB internal storage, MicroSD slot (up to 64 GB).
- Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, A-GPS.
- MicroUSB, 3.5 mm jack.
- Android 4.1 (JB).
- Quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), Dual-band 3G (900/2100 MHz).
- 5" (l) x 2.6" (w) × 0.3" (8.5 mm) (d).
- 1650 mAh battery.
evleaks is pointing at December as a release date, and a price tag of €400 (approx Rs 28,000). If that's true, the GALAXY Premier will entice buyers who aren't ready to cross the 30 grand line for a smartphone.
