iPad mini Pricing Appears On German Retailer's Internal Listing
Available in 8 GB through 64 GB, priced from Rs 17,000 to Rs 44,300; Apple remains tightlipped.
While Apple is yet to officially confirm the existence of the iPad mini, we have one more rumour to add to the list of the ones we have already carried before. The device's pricing details have apparently appeared on the internal listing of German retail chain known as Media Markt. The availability of the 7.85" tablet has been listed in 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB models with Wi-Fi only and with Wi-Fi and cellular network options. While it has not been mentioned, we can safely deem it to be 4G rather than 3G as is the case with the current crop of Apple devices. Here is a listing of the pricing details in Indian rupees (using currency conversion at the time of publication, not taking into account taxes and duties):
Capacity | Connectivity | Pricing |
---|---|---|
8 GB | Wi-Fi only Wi-Fi and cellular network | €250 (approx. Rs 17,000) €350 (Rs 24,000) |
16 GB | Wi-Fi only Wi-Fi and cellular network | €350 (Rs 24,000) €450 (Rs 30,700) |
32 GB | Wi-Fi only Wi-Fi and cellular network | €450 (Rs 30,700) €550 (Rs 37,500) |
64 GB | Wi-Fi only Wi-Fi and cellular network | €550 (Rs 37,500) €650 (Rs 44,300) |
If the above prices are true, it will take away one reason why I had assumed that the tablet will succeed. I think that the pricing seems to be too high to be true when you consider that even the latest iPad is priced a lower than these, so you are advised to take it for what it's worth. We will find out only when we hear from the horse's mouth. In the meantime, here is the screen-grab that another website obtained of the iPad mini price listing on Media Markt:
