Micromax Launches Android 4.0 Based 7" Funbook Alpha Tablet For Rs 6000
ICS-based slate packs in a 0.3 mp front camera, 1 GHz CPU, and external 3G dongle support; comes with educational courseware.
Indian phone and tablet manufacturer Micromax is releasing products like nobody's business. Close on the heels of launching two new budget Gingerbread Androids, the Ninja3 A57 and Ninja4 A87, and a few weeks after releasing the Funbook Pro tablet, the Delhi NCR based company has unveiled another entry-level tablet. Dubbed the Funbook Alpha, the 7" slate runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and looks similar to the original Funbook tablet, except for the lack of navigation buttons on the former. The device is powered by the Allwinner A13 chipset — a stripped down version of its hit A10 SOC (System On Chip), with the SATA and HDMI components removed and meant purely for tablets. It utilizes an ARM Cortex-A8 CPU at 1 GHz with 512 MB of DDR3 RAM. Its 7" multi-touch screen renders 800x480 pixels. Here's the list of detailed specs:
- Android 4.0 (ICS) with support for Google Play.
- 7" multi-touch screen with pixel dimensions of 800x480.
- 0.3 mp front camera with video recording.
- Allwinner A13 chipset, 1 GHz Cortex-A8 CPU with dual Mali-400 GPU and 512 MB of RAM.
- 4 GB internal storage, 32 GB microSD card slot.

- 3.5 mm jack,
gyroscopeOrientation sensor. - Supported audio formats: MP3, WMA, MP2, OGG, AAC, M4A, FLAC, APE, 3GP, WAV.
- Supported video formats: MPEG, H.264, DivX, XviD, RM, RMVB, MKV, WMV, MOV, MP4, AVI, allows 1080p playback.

According to the official product page, Micromax also offers interactive study material with this tablet for all classes, sample papers for various entrance exams, and video tutorials. However, the courseware and videos will have to be individually purchased from the company's official store. The tablet is priced at Rs 6000, and can be purchased here.
