MapmyIndia Launches 5" Android Navigation Device Carpad5 For Rs 20,000
Similar to the GALAXY Note in form factor, the gadget works as a GPS navigation device, tablet, and also as a smartphone.
For those who always wished to have large screen handsets, and weren't spoilt for choice in the phablet (read the Samsung GALAXY Note and its variants) arena have something to celebrate. Mapping company MapmyIndia has launched the Carpad5, an Android device that functions as an in-car GPS navigator, 3G tablet, and smartphone. Powered by a 1 GHz processor, the gadget features a 5" touchscreen. Its other specifications include:
- 5" capacitive touchscreen with pixel dimensions 800x480.
- Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
- Voice-based navigation, 3D landmarks, house-level details, and travel guides.
- SIM support: 3G UMTS 2100 MHz and 2G GSM / GPRS / EDGE quad-band.
- 8 GB internal storage, bundled 8 GB microSD card that can be upgraded up to 32 GB.
- Access to Google Play Store.
- 1080p HD video playback.
- Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi, GPS, and A-GPS.
- 3.5 mm audio jack, Mini USB slot.
- G-Sensor and E-Compass.
- 2000 mAh battery.
The gadget offers turn-by-turn voice-guided navigation, and comes pre-installed with the Aura application that features the company's 3D map interface. If you plan to change the microSD card, you will have to send an email to that effect at [email protected], after which you will recieve an activation code to unlock the application transfered to the new card. The device can be mounted on your car's windshield as well. Priced at Rs 20,000 the phablet comes with a wall charger, car charger, windshield mounts, and a complimentary portable charger so you can carry the gadget with you wherever you go.
