New technical integrations likely to boost UST projector market in 2025

Home entertainment has significantly transformed in recent years, driven by changing customer preferences. Similar to filmmakers adopting the latest technologies and producing more IMAX originals to attract audiences to theatres, the UST projector market, a rapidly growing segment in India, also incorporates advanced features. As 2025 approaches, the evolution of projectors is expected to accelerate with smarter capabilities.


“High resolution, multi-connectivity options and superior sound quality offered by UST projectors have redefined the way we experience entertainment at home. In the coming years, we are likely to see more ultra-portable projectors with enhanced features, helping these devices sustain their growth momentum,” says Sushil Motwani, Founder of Aytexcel Pvt. Next-generation resolution

The demand for higher resolution is growing among home entertainment consumers. For most premium UST projectors, 4K UHD (Ultra High Definition) with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels has already become the standard. The focus is now shifting toward 8K projectors, which offer a higher resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels along with improved brightness, contrast, and color gamut. Consequently, we may see the introduction of more premium 8K projectors into the mainstream. However, the popularity of these projectors and their adoption may progress gradually, depending on the availability of more premium 8K content on streaming platforms.

Focus on sustainability

Laser-powered UST projectors are more energy-efficient than lamp-based projectors and consume less energy per square inch of display compared to large TVs, which require more power to illuminate their expansive LED or OLED panels. Their portable design also reduces heat emissions. Moreover, there is also a discernible increase in sustainable measures like reducing the carbon footprint in production, fine-tuning efficient logistics, and using recyclable packaging and earth-friendly components.

Integrated technology

Integration of technology that eliminates the need for multiple streaming devices is needed to keep up with changing consumer preferences. For instance, Formovie's latest offering, the Theater Premium, features built-in Google TV and Netflix, allowing users to access their favorite content from OTT or live apps and organize it effortlessly. Simply press the Google Assistant button and specify your command. In the coming years, we may see many more autonomous features, advanced voice controls, AI-powered personalization, and smooth multi-device connectivity.

For an immersive home theatre experience, audio specifications are as important as visual quality. This demand has led to innovative technical collaborations between laser projector manufacturers and audio product companies.
