Wordle – How to play the hottest game on the Internet

Wordle is a word game that is 2022’s biggest trend so far.

 

The rules are straightforward:

You have six guesses to guess the ‘correct five letter word’. 

You’ve probably seen people on social media posting images of black, yellow and green boxes. 

The rules are simple: Every time you guess a word, the letters in that word will either turn black, yellow, or green.

Green means that you’ve gotten the correct letter in the right spot. 

Yellow means that you’ve gotten the correct letter in the wrong spot. 

Black means that the letter is not in the word at all. 

For example, let’s say you guess the word ‘Blank’ and ‘A’ is green, ‘B’ is yellow, and the other letters are black.

This means that ‘A’ is the correct letter in the right spot, meaning that ‘A’ is the third letter in the ‘correct five letter word’.

Now in this example ‘B’ is yellow, indicating that the ‘correct five letter word’ contains the letter ‘B’ but not in the first spot, meaning that the ‘correct five letter word’ does not begin with ‘B’ but ‘B’ is still somewhere in the word. So ‘B’ can potentially be the second, fourth, or fifth letter. Not the first, and not the third because the third letter is ‘A’.

Now the remaining black letters indicate that they are not in the ‘correct five letter word’. So, the ‘correct five letter word’ does not contain the letters ‘L’, ‘N’ or ‘K’. 

Based on the color scheme, you can proceed to guess accordingly. If you fail to guess the word after six tries, the game reveals the ‘correct five letter word’. 

Wordle is a word game that you can only play once a day. Which is actually a smart way to prolong the trend, otherwise everyone would play it constantly and then get bored of it.
