Alexa to stop reading your emails out loud
Amazon will retire a feature that allowed Alexa to read your emails out loud.
Amazon’s Alexa is a versatile virtual assistant. It has such a plethora of features that there’s a good chance you don’t know everything Alexa is capable of – Did you know that Alexa can read your email to you out loud? This feature will be retired on Monday November 8. Amazon plans to unlink all email accounts from Alexa.
Amazon first introduced the email-reading feature in 2018. After linking an email account, users could delete, read, reply, or archives messages with their voice. But from now on, anyone who actually used this feature will have to use phones and computers to read emails. But at least you can still link your calendar to Alexa.
Amazon is killing this feature because barely anyone uses it, and barely anyone has even heard about it. But since this news came out, many critics are questioning why Amazon even wanted to read our emails in the first place and why we should trust Amazon with something that can be so private.
