Battle Of The Smartphones: Who’s winning? Honor 10 Lite Vs. Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Vs. Realme U1

Honor's first smartphone of 2019 "Honor 10 Lite" has been launched. We are quickly comparing, Honor 10 Lite Vs. Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Vs. Realme U1

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has launched its very first smartphone of 2019, the Honor 10 Lite. As the name suggests, it succeeds the Honor 9 Lite and is focused at the sub 20k segment. The company has launched two RAM variants of the phone-- 4GB and 6GB RAM, both having 64GB of storage.

At its price, the Honor 10 Lite has some tough competition against the likes of Redmi Note 6 Pro and Realme U1, but the Honor 10 Lite is the newest among the three and possess some extra features missing on the other two. We decided to put the smartphones against each other and find out which among the three turns out to be the best value for money option.

Display and design

The Honor 10 Lite has a 6.21-inch full HD+ display with the in-trend dewdrop notch display with beyond 91% screen to body ratio, whereas the Realme U1 offers 83.9% screen to body ratio But the Redmi Note 6 Pro has a slightly lesser screen to body ratio of 81%, which essentially means thicker bezels and a broader notch. In terms of design, the Honor 10 Lite and Realme U1 share a lot of similarities on the front, whereas the Redmi Note 6 Pro differentiates itself with a slightly broader notch design.

In terms of build quality, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is the only phone of the three to have an aluminum body, whereas the Honor 10 Lite and Realme have a good quality mirror-like body at the back. While having a metal body is logically a better option, but when it comes to looks, the Honor 10 Lite has the best-looking externals, especially the sky blue variant. The Redmi Note 6 Pro still has an iterative design that shares a lot of similarities with previously released Xiaomi phones, and the Realme U1 has a shiny glass-like back, but it doesn’t feel as premium as the Honor 10 Lite.

Performance and software

This is one area where all the Honor 10 Lite, Redmi Note 6 Pro and Realme U1  go neck to neck as the Redmi Note 6 Pro uses the most reliable mid-range chipset the Snapdragon 636, whereas the Honor 10 Lite uses Huawei’s own Kirin 710 and Realme U1 uses the latest Mediatek Helio P70. Comparing the processors Kirin 710 and Helio P70 are latest but SD 636 is a bit old.

The Snapdragon 636 is built using 14nm architecture, but the Helio P70 and Kirin 710 are based on 12nm architecture, where the high-performance cores on both are clocked at 2.2GHz in comparison to Note 6 Pro’s 1.8GHz. While this might not make a huge difference in real life usage, the Kirin 710 looks much more powerful because of higher clock speed and in-built GPU Turbo 2. tech, which enhances the graphics and gaming performance of the phone.

The three phone’s starting price for 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant are :

Honor 10 Lite: 13,999

Redme Note 6 Pro: 13,999  13,999

Realme U1: 14,499

The Honor 10 Lite is the only phone amongst the three that offers the latest Andriod 9.0 Pie out of the box with EMUI 9 skin on top. For those who are particular about the version of Android running on the phone should consider the Honor 10 Lite. Additionally, the EMUI also adds some really useful features to make the overall experience even better.

In terms of battery, the Redmi Note 6 Pro has the biggest cell at 4000mAh, whereas the Realme U1 has a 3500mAh battery, the Honor 10 Lite has a slightly smaller 3400mAh but offers great back up because of its Kirin 710 and EMUI 9.0 battery optimization. The Realme U1 and Honor 10 Lite offers somewhat the same battery life, but the Redmi Note 6 Pro has a bigger battery

Other features

Further, the three phones also bring along tons of AI-based features in the camera app. The Redmi Note 6 Pro, however, does have a couple of additional features like an IR sensor, EIS in camera. Similarly, the Realme U1 has a three card slots-- two for SIM cards and one dedicated to micro SD card.

But if you compare the usefulness of AI used on three phones, Honor has the most useful AI features like AI shopping, AI sports shot and more.

Verdict

The three phones stand a fair chance of winning the battle at their respective price points, but if you are looking for a complete package that doesn’t compromise in any of the aforementioned departments, the Honor 10 Lite takes the lead. It has the latest Android software, more premium design and feel, and Huawei’s latest Kirin 710 mid-range chipset. The only downside of the phone is its relatively smaller battery, but the battery optimization on EMUI makes up for it.
