Facebook Rolls Out Group Video Chat Feature

The new feature is available on all platforms - Android, iOS, and even Web.

Facebook has recently rolled out an update to its Messenger on Android, iOS, and Web platforms. The new update being the ability to make group video chat was always requested by users. However, the social media giant finally rolled it out.

Facebook Messenger now allows its users to converse with up to 50 people at the same time through its new Group-Chat feature. People can join the conversation either through voice or camera. Though 50 people can join at the same time, it is worth noting that users will be able to see only six people who are dominantly speaking at the same time.

The new feature is being rolled out starting today itself on all platforms, according to an official blog post by Stephane Taine, Product Manager, Messenger.

The post also reads, “This is the time of year to tell our friends and family how much we care about them and send best wishes for the year ahead. We’re delighted to bring you the ability to chat face-to-face with those who matter to you most, wherever they are. We look forward to hearing what you think.”

If you use Messenger on your smartphone, then you will need the latest version of the app, and all you have to do is either jump into an existing group conversation or you can even create a new one. Once you start or enter a group chat, you have to tap on the video icon on the upper right of the screen in order to enter the video chat, mentions the blog post.
