Xiaomi May Reveal A Compact Variant Of Mi MIX

The handset will feature a 5.5-inch screen compared to the original 6.4-incher.

 

The Xiaomi Mi MIX is one of the best-looking smartphones out there. This should not come as a surprise as the MIX has been designed by the renowned French industrial designer Philippe Starck. To achieve minimalism and seamless design, the Starck removed the earpiece from the device. For the propagation of sound, the Mi MIX uses a piezoelectric ceramic driver that works through the glass. Xiaomi has also replaced the regular proximity sensor with ultrasonic technology. Moving the front-facing camera from top to the bottom has enabled the Chinese-company to drastically reduce the bezel size.



The ceramic body further enhances the premium feel of the device. In terms of specs, the Mi MIX is packed with powerful Snapdragon 821 chipset. It offers a 16-megapixel camera. The only thing that does not work in Mi MIX's favour is its size. The 6.4-inch smartphone is too big for most users. However, if the new leak is to be believed, Xiaomi is soon planning to announce a 5.5-inch variant of the Mi MIX. According to a Chinese website, the relatively compact version of Mi MIX will come with a 5.5-inch Full HD screen. Despite the smaller footprint, the handset is expected to pack-in the same processor as that of the Mi MIX. As a proof, the website has also shared a couple of photographs of the phone in question.



The images are quite blurry. However, it gives you an idea about the size difference between the Mi MIX and its relatively smaller variant.
