Samsung Urges Users To Power Down The Note 7
The battery debacle is costing the South Korean company dear.
They say that once you are at the top the only place you can go is down. Samsung is learning this the hard way. Just when it was enjoying a good head start over Apple's latest iPhones, the Note 7's battery issue spoilt its party. Now Apple's new phones are hitting the store shelves within a week and the Koreans are still figuring out the fiasco. Cases of exploding Galaxy Note 7 prompted Samsung to initiate the recall programme last week. The company will be replacing every Note 7 sold so far with a fresh unit.
In order to prevent further mishaps, Samsung is asking the users to power down their Galaxy Note 7 handsets. Here's the statement from the company's Mobile Business President, DJ Koh:
“Our number one priority is the safety of our customers. We are asking users to power down their Galaxy Note7s and exchange them as soon as possible,”
Just a couple of days ago, multiple aviation authorities have asked flyers not to turn on the Note 7 on-board an aircraft. Such incidents are a perfect reminder why we shouldn't keep mobile phones away while sleeping. Many analysts predict that replacing over 2.5 million units is going to cost over a billion dollars to Samsung. To make the matters worse, the South Korean company's shares have fallen by 7 percent in the wake of recent developments.
