How Google Is Changing The World Of Fashion
When you search for specific outfit, you would get purchase links right from the search results page.
Ninety per cent of smartphone users say that they are not absolutely sure of the specific brand they want to buy when they begin shopping, and nearly half of US readers consult blogs to find new trends and ideas. To help people discover and explore products and brands in these "I-need-some ideas" moments, Google has focused on building ad experiences, such as Showcase Shopping ads and Shopping ads on image search that drive discovery.
This new advertising program, being called as 'Shop the Look’, allows users to search for specific outfits, and receive photos and purchase links right from the results page, according to a recent post on the official Google blog.
The company has announced that it would be starting out by partnering with sites like Polyvore and LiketoKnow.it, which are Pinterest-like networks that help fashion bloggers make money from the social media posts. That way, Google seems to be able to pull in photos and affiliate links when people search for items like “summer dress”. The program is part of Google’s overall shopping ad product, so, down the line big-name retailers may be able to sell clothes using the tool as well.
Last week, Google has also launched a unique Fashion Week experiment that enables people to explore the world of fashion and shop products directly from curated, inspirational images on Google.com.
How It Works:
Let’s say you are looking for a new outfit to wear on a wedding.
Step 1:
For Eg: Search for “cocktail attire” on Google Search.
Step 2:
You can see an image of a popular fashion blogger wearing a black cocktail dress, heels and sunglasses.
Step 3:
You can now shop those exact (or visually similar) products featured in the image by tapping through and exploring the relevant products shown in the form of Shopping ads. As with standard Shopping ads, retailers will be charged on a cost-per-click basis, and all impressions and clicks will be reported within existing Shopping campaigns.
Step 4:
You will then be navigated to the respected site, so that you can buy it.
