The K5 Note was launched in China in January, within few weeks of the Vibe K4 Note launch in India. It was priced at CNY 1,099 (approximately INR 11,350).

The new K5 Note features many improvements over its predecessor, such as an all-metal body. Another highlight is the fingerprint scanner, located below the camera module on the rear panel- although a similar sensor could be found on the Vibe K4 Note as well. The phone also packs Dolby Atmos powered speakers similar to the K4 Note.

The K5 Note is powered by a MediaTek processor. It has a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor clocked at 1.8GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM and Mali-T860 GPU. It also features 16GB of built-in storage, with expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB). The smartphone features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) IPS display. It sports a 13 MP rear camera with PDAF autofocus, an f/2.2 aperture and dual-tone LED flash. It also has an 8 MP front camera. The phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with the company's own Vibe UI on top. It supports dual Nano-SIM. It has a digital compass, an accelerometer, and proximity and ambient light sensors.

Whether the new K5 Note will retain the same name as the China variant, or with the "Vibe" moniker added to it for the Indian market, remains to be seen.
