Windows 10 Upgrade Notification Goes Fullscreen
Microsoft makes a last-ditch attempt to convince people to upgrade
So far, the Windows 10 upgrade notifications have been like flies: repetitive, irritating, and something to put up with until you buy a fly swatter. Now Microsoft intends to blow up the notifications to fullscreen proportions in a final push to convince people to upgrade to Windows 10.
Clearly, the company had decided to beat their message home using the digital equivalent of a sledgehammer.
Microsoft’s free Windows 10 upgrade ends on July 29th, after which users will be charged $119 to upgrade. The company is urging all Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users to take advantage of the free upgrade in the final days before the free upgrade ends.
Not everyone will see the prompt - If users have the latest "Get Windows 10" app, the fullscreen prompt won’t show up on their system. Furthermore, if a system is incompatible with Windows 10, and has had the upgrade and subsequently uninstalled the same, or failed to successfully upgrade to Windows 10, then these users will also not receive the full-screen prompt.
Existing methods to block the previous upgrade prompts will also work on the full-screen notifications. Well, I’ll certainly be making use of those.
It remains to be seen whether the tech giant will succeed in their latest attempt to coerce users into upgrading.
