iBall Launches Slide i7218 Tablet For Rs 12,000
Runs Android 2.3, sports a 7” screen and dual cameras.
iBall has added yet another device to its tablet portfolio with the launch of the Slide i7218, a successor to the original Slide that was launched last year. The new tab runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and is powered by a 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU. It sports a 7” capacitive multi-touch display with a rear 2 MP camera and VGA front camera for video-calling. With 8 GB inbuilt memory, you can expand it to 32 GB via microSD slot. The company reportedly claims that this is the only tablet in India that can support direct "USB port connectivity" that allows users to connect USB devices such as flash drives, keyboards, and mouse. That claim is disputed though, as many other tabs, including the original iBall Slide, have such USB Host capability.
The i7218 also has an HDMI port to connect it to a larger display, while connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G using an external dongle (that needs to be purchased separately). Its 4400 mAh battery can provide backup for up to 6.5 hours of music and 5 hours of video, according to specs. The iBall Slide i7218 is priced heftily at Rs 12,000, which is a bit too much for a tablet with dated hardware that does not even come with ICS, and the VGA front camera is the only upgrade over its predecessor.
