Sony May Introduce Another PS4 Device Along With The Upcoming PS4 Neo
From October, all PS4 games have to work on the PS4 and Neo.
According to a Wall Street Journal report , Macquarie Securities analyst Damian Thong said Sony might also introduce a smaller PS4 along with the PS4 Neo. Thong believes that the two would be revealed close to the Tokyo Game Show in September.
Sony has declined comment on the subject. However, this ties in with information from multiple publishers, who told NDTV Gadgets 360 that all their upcoming releases form October onwards have to support the PS4 Neo. Furthermore, gaming website Giantbomb had posted in April, saying that all games from October would be required to work with the PS4 and PS4 Neo.
A September announcement seems appropriate, considering that competitors Eurogamer and French video game distributor Innelec are claiming a release this year.
Sony has acknowledged the device’s existence, but the company is yet to formally announce it or what it will be called when it finally hits the stores. However, the company has made a point of reassuring fans that it will not in any way replace the PS4.
"PS4 is PS4… new high-end PS4 is still PS4, so you know the life-cycle is not going to be shorter," Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, told Gameswelt TV last week.
Additionally, Sony announced during its investor day that the PS4 Neo will not be the beginning of regular upgrades similar to mobile or PC markets. Perhaps the company was setting the stage for a formal announcement in the near future.
