Samsung Reveals Price Of The Gear 360 Camera At Last
It sure ain’t cheap.
This past February, Samsung launched its Gear 360 camera at the MWC 2016 conference. And now that the product has finally hit the US shelves (albeit in limited quantites), the South Korean tech giant has finally drawn back the curtains on the price- $349.99.
But the Gear 360 is so chock-full of impressive features that it’s hard to call it overpriced. The device has two fish-eye lenses, each with a 15MP sensor. The 30MP camera can also record 360-degree videos in 4K resolution. Users can also use just one side of the camera to record 180-degree videos and images. Samsung has also launched a dedicated mobile app, available on the Galaxy Apps store and Google Play Store.
The company’s Milk VR platform has also been re-launched as the Samsung VR. It allows users to view and share 360-degree media content. Samsung has also launched its Creators programme, with classes and seminars to teach aspiring film-makers about virtual reality.
Last month, Facebook’s Oculus announced 'Nomads,' a VR video series that provides insight into lifestyles of people around the world. The video series has also been announced for the Samsung Gear VR headset. An upcoming video game, 'Tactera', has also been announced for the platform. It allows players strategize a battlefield on a holographic table-top.
The Gear 360 will be on show at the VidCon conference in Anaheim, California, and a few units will also be on sale there. A wider rollout is expected to take place later this year.
