Reliance Jio To Launch LYF Wind 4 At INR 6,799

A cheap smartphone with impressive features; Will Lyf Wind bring more life to Jio?

 

Telecom operator Reliance Jio is expected to launch entry-level handset LYF Wind 4 priced at INR 6,799 to kick start its 4G services in 2016.

On the technical front, LYF Wind 4 features a 5 inch 720p display coupled with a 4000 maH battery. The device has an 8 MP primary camera and 2 MP front camera along with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage.

The smartphone has dual SIM capabilities with 4G support. Features like VoLTE (Voice Over Long Term Evolution facility) and DTS sound are bundled for better audio quality. It will surely be a good alternative for 4G users as ZTE corporation is producing LYF handsets.

According to Counterpoint Research, in May 2016, LYF became the fifth largest smartphone player and second largest LTE phone supplier in India. LYF phones are directly sold through its retail outlets. The company plans to source more phones from the maker under Jio 4G services later in 2016.

However, for now, we have to see how LFY Wind 4 turns out to be under Reliance’s flagship venture Reliance Jio.

Reliance Jio recently opened up its services for general public for Trial run. You will only be able to buy its SIM after getting ‘invite’ from employees of Reliance Industries group firms.

Interestingly, brokerage firm CLSA recently said Reliance Retail’s LYF smartphone could become a $1 billion brand in 2016-17 and corner a market share of about 7 per cent.
