Opera Rolls Out Native Ad-blocking Feature
This new update allows users to browse Internet quicker than they can by using Chrome and Safari with third-part ad-blockers.
Ad-blocking is gaining more and more popularity in the recent times, and we all know it. To take the ad-blocking experience a little further, Opera has recently launched its native extension, which according to the company is more faster than Google's browser.
To be precise, the company claims that, browsing in Opera with its native ad-blocking extension is 45 per cent faster than Google Chrome. This is simply because of one reason - Google is not having its very own ad-blocking service. All the ad-blocking extensions in Chrome are third-party ones.
Opera also claims that the ad-blocking update actually makes you browse the web nearly twice the speed of browsing without activating the feature.
According to a post on Engadget, these facts came as results when Opera was tested in a computer which was running on 64-bit version of Windows 10 with an AMD Phenom II X6 processor and 8 GB RAM. The post further explains that Opera tested the feature on 66 content rich websites, while loading each website 15 times.
However, on the mobile front, Opera Mini has been recorded to run 40 per cent faster with the ad-blocking feature activated. This evaluation was made after visiting 50 content rich websites over WiFi on a Nexus 5X running on Android Marshmallow, reports Engadget.
With this latest native ad-blocking feature by Opera, the question that strikes our mind is - Will Opera lure in the users of Chrome and Safari by providing better and faster web browsing experience? Only time can answer it.
