Facebook has started rolling out a campaign to save free basics in India. You might have already encountered a notification upon logging in to the social networking giant today.

If you haven't yet seen it, the notification allows users an opportunity to send an email to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and request them to save free basics.

Free Basics provides free access to essential internet services like communication, education, healthcare, farming and many more helping users, especially those who cannot afford to pay for data.

The pre-typed body of the email that you can see in the notifications allows informs that nearly 1 billion Indian people are not yet connected and shutting down Free Basics would actually the country's digital transformation.

While this campaign seems to be reaching out Facebook users in great numbers, we have in the past witnessed quite a number of discussions and arguments going on around Facebook's initiative Internet.org which promises to offer users basic Internet access for free.

To recall, Tim Berners-Lee who invented the World Wide Web in-fact suggested that users show say 'no' to such initiative back in October. But, what would your take be? Would you send a mail to the TRAI through the new campaign by Facebook? Let us know your opinions!
