Lava Will Launch India's First "Intel Inside" Smartphone This Week

Reportedly, the Android handset will feature a 1.6 GHz Atom CPU, 4" screen, and HDMI port.

Revealed back in February, the XOLO X900 is now set to make its debut in the Indian market this week. This particular handset has been in limelight, considering that it's Intel's first attempt at smartphone chips, which appears to have finally materialized. As reported earlier, the XOLO X900 is the result of a tie up between the silicon titan, Intel, and India's low-cost handset maker, Lava.

Reportedly, the handset is based on Atom Z2460 processor, and has 1 GB of RAM. Its 4" LCD screen has pixel dimensions of 1024x600. Other than that, it comes with 16 GB of internal memory, an 8 MP primary and a VGA front camera, HDMI port, and NFC. Additionally, the device's battery life is quoted at up to eight hours of voice calling or five hours of browsing over 3G.

Neither Lava nor Intel havr revealed the handsets pricing yet, however, I guess it should be around Rs 15,000. Apart from Lava, Intel has also partnered with Lenovo and Motorola to churn out similar handsets. Although Intel is unlikely to dethrone ARM anytime soon, we can at least hope for some healthy competition in this space in the near future.
