The smartphone comes with a premium look with the rear panel having a leather-type finish.

Indian smartphone company Micromax has recently launched Canvas 5, its latest flagship smartphone that comes with a price tag of Rs 11,999.
Equipped with a 5.2 inch 1080p 2.5D curved screen along with a 1.3 GHz 64 bit octa core MediaTek MT6753 processor coupled with a 3GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory, the smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is said to be upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
However, there is no information about when would the update be rolled out.
The smartphone also comes with a 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front facing camera with selfie flash so that users can capture better selfies even in poor lighting conditions.
The Canvas 5 supports dual SIM cards and 4G connectivity while it comes with a metal frame and a back cover which has a leather feel.
Adding more, the smartphone comes with a 2,900 mAh battery which the company claims to keep the phone live for up to 10 hours of talk time and up to 275 hours of standby time.
Additionally, the smartphone comes with Content Adaptive Backlight Control which actually works in managing power and then adjust the image being displayed to look brighter.
Considering the price point of the new Canvas 5, it looks like while some aspects of the smartphone attract us, the others may not. The 3GB RAM is definitely the USP of the smartphone.
However, along with this, the Canvas 5 will be available from retail stores through India and also comes with double data offer for Airtel 4G customers for 3 months.
