Budget Gionee S Plus Goes Official For Rs 16,999

Packs in everything under the sun including a USB Type C port.

 

Gionee has finally made official its budget monster called the S Plus. The smartphone takes up a phablet form factor and can be purchased from Gionee’s official website right now at Rs 16,999 under its Buy Now tab.

The Gionee S Plus had recently leaked out in images just yesterday and while we knew that the company would launch the smartphone soon, its sudden appearance on the company’s website indeed turned out to be a surprise.

The smartphone packs in great hardware and even includes a USB Type C port, making it the first budget to mid-range smartphone to pack in the new Android standard.

Design-wise the S Plus does stand out even with its plastic body that seems to have a metal frame.

Coming down to the specifications:

  • We get a 5.5 inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection
  • The smartphone is powered by a 1.3 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 SoC coupled with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage (expandable)
  • The camera department consists of a 13 MP camera on the back and a 5 MP unit up front for selfies
  • Connectivity options for now include Dual SIM slots with LTE bands
  • More impressively, the device also packs in a USB Type C port and a massive 3,150 mAh battery
  • Lastly, we also have Android 5.1 Lollipop inside with Gionee’s custom Amigo OS running the show

The Gionee Elife S Plus will compete with the Motorola Moto X Play that retails online for Rs 18,499.
