The Xperia Z2 is the best Sony has to offer in the smartphone space. Powerful processor and a 20 megapixel camera aside, the Xperia Z2's construction and design are something worth taking a note. The Z2 features a sturdy aluminium-frame, which is sandwiched between the glass panels. Like its predecessor, the Xperia Z2 can withstand dust and water. To be precise, the phone has got IP58 rating, which means that the phone can withstand dust and water. The number '5' denotes protection against dust particles, and '8' stands for the phone's ability to withstand water immersion up to 1.5 metre. Obviously, we tested these claims right away. First we gave it a nice water splash. Later, we dunked it in a water container for about 20 minutes. It survived both the tests without any problem. The only niggle here is that the screen goes haywire with water contact.

Today's phones feature capacitive screen technology. In this setup, the screen's glass surface is coated with a conductor material. A low voltage current is run through the screen. When we touch the display, the local electrostatic field gets disrupted. This helps the system detect even the slightest touch. Tap-water is conductive (just like our finger), which causes it to register input. In effect, the phone does things on its own, which includes opening random applications, placing a call, and deleting messages.
