22nd Mar 2012Nokia sure knows how to get under your skin, and with this new patent, it wants to make sure it's the only company that should be able to do it. While some of their old concepts have been interesting, this one is a bit too farfetched. As per the submitted patent, the ferromagnetic ink-based tattoos on your skin will vibrate based on commands from your phone. The material used can detect a magnetic field, and emit a vibration. This can be used as a device or as a tattoo, depending on the wearer's preferences, and can be paired with a phone that can emit varying magnetic fields. With the help of these variations, different patterns can be set to inform the user of the phones activities (such as a call, text, or low battery) by controlling the substance magnetically.
When users opt for a tattoo, demagnetized ferromagnetic inks will be used to create the design. After it is ready, the tattoo will be magnetised by bringing it "several times over magnet to magnetize the image material again". Does it sound cool or creepy to you, and would you get yourself a magnetic tattoo when it actually sees light of day?
