September is going to a busy month for techies as Apple, Samsung, Nokia (Microsoft), and Motorola (Lenovo) ready to make big announcements. Now before we get swayed away with the new hardware, let's have a look at the some of the noteworthy handsets that launched and are available in India this month. Considering that Selfie is the trending topic on the interweb, let's start off with a selfie phone from Japan.

Sony Xperia C3
Sony has finally rolled out its Selfie phone in India. The highlight of the phone is its 5 megapixel front-facing camera. The Xperia C3 sports a 5.5-inch HD screen with Sony's Triluminous moniker. At the heart is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2 GHz processor with 1 GB RAM. The onboard storage is 8 GB. You can expand it further by 32 GB via the microSD card slot. Moreover, you get an 8 megapixel camera, dual-SIM support, and 2500 mAh battery. The camera-centric phone can be yours for Rs 23,000. While the specs definitely sound promising, we think it's too big to be used as a phone.

Xiaomi Redmi 1S
Despite being an entry-level smartphone, the Redmi 1S offers impressive specs. For starters, you get a 4.7-inch IPS screen with pixel dimensions of 720x1280. The handset is powered by a 1.6 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC (System on Chip). It is one of the few handsets that offer 1 GB of RAM in this price range. Xiaomi has generously thrown in an 8 megapixel camera with an LED flash. Thanks to the front-facing snapper, you can also make video calls. Other features include 8 GB internal storage, microSD card slot, dual SIM functionality, and 2000 mAh battery. This featured packed phone is priced at Rs 6000. Since Xiaomi is going to sell these handsets in a flash sale, you'll probably have a hard time ordering the device.

Oppo Find 7
Announced in March, the Oppo Find 7 has finally reached the Indian market. The phone features a 5.5-inch IPS screen with 1440x2560 pixels. That makes for the pixel density of whopping 530 ppi. The phone has a scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The Find 7 is backed by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip clocked 2.5 GHz. For photography, there is a 13 MP Sony IMX214 lens assembly. The snapper is also capable of 4k video recording. The phone comes with a 3000 mAh battery. Undoubtedly, it's yet another powerful handset, but I doubt how many will want to spurge Rs 38,000 on a not so popular Chinese brand.

Intex Cloud FX
Feature phones are soon going to get serious competition as Firefox is agressively targeting the sub-2k segment to position its smarphone OS. In the first wave of devices, we have the Cloud FX from Intex. It is powered by a 1 GHz processor and has 128 MB RAM, which is said to be more than enough to run Firefox OS. The phone has a 3.5-inch screen with pixel dimensions 320x480. There's a 2 megapixel camera too, along with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and dual-SIM support. The specifications are good considering the phone costs only Rs 2000.

Spice Fire One Mi-FX1
Intex is not the only company to jump on the Firefox OS bandwagon. Spice too has unveiled a dirt-cheap smartphone called Fire One Mi – FX 1 (quite a creative name). It comes with a 1 GHz CPU and 128 MB RAM. The phone has a 3.5-inch with pixel dimensions of 480x320. Similar to the Intex Cloud FX, this phone offers a 2 MP fixed-focus primary camera. Other features include a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and dual-SIM support. The Spice phone costs Rs 2300, which is slightly more than what the Intex Cloud FX retails for. These phones are a good option for first time smartphone users.



Nokia Lumia 530
If you though the Lumia 630 offered great value for money, take a look at the 530. This handset from Microsoft runs latest Windows Phone 8.1 OS out-of-the-box. The phone also supports Action Centre and Cortana. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor that is coupled with 512 MB of RAM. This should be enough for smooth Windows experience experience. The Lumia 530 will come with a 5 megapixel rear camera. What's missing is an LED flash and a front-facing snapper. Internal storage is 4 GB, but thankfully the phone supports microSD cards up to 128 GB. The phone features a 4-inch FWVGA screen with pixel density of around 245 ppi. For Rs 7100, the Lumia 530 is quite a good deal.
