12th Jun 2014E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) is underway in Los Angeles. On the very first day of the biggest annual event in the video games industry, Nintendo announced new Zelda and Mario games. It's amazing to see how these classic have managed to stay relevant in these modern times. PC users also had something to cheer about. No, Half Life 3 hasn't been announced yet! Rockstar' open world madness, GTA: 5 is soon going to release for Windows PCs. Speaking of the Half Life franchise, it seems that the seven years haven't been enough for Valve to add a next chapter to one of the most popular FPS (First Person Shooter) in the gaming history. That disappointment aside, E3 is in full swing. As expected, multiple titles were announced for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Out of that, these are a few handpicked ones to get excited about.
Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare
Call Of Duty games may not have the best graphics, but the gameplay these titles offer is absolutely explosive. The game's 2012 iteration, Black Ops 2 had made over half a billion dollars on its release day. Now looking at the trailer, it seems the latest title Advanced Warfare will also break a bunch of popularity records. The game is set in the future. Year 2054, to be precise. Most countries have fallen, and the the largest force in the world is a private military corporation. The story sounds good enough to weave in lot of action. Did I tell you that the game features Kevin Spacey?Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
The insanely popular action/adventure game Uncharted is back in action. Developed by Naughty Dog Studio, Uncharted puts you in the shoes of a modern day treasure hunter Nathan Drake. The title is known for good story line and action-packed set pieces. Judging by the trailer, it seems the upcoming game is going to offer all that. Many fans believe that 'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' is going to be protagonist Nathan's final adventure. In terms of visuals, 'A Thief's End' seems like the most advanced title in the franchise. Uncharted 4 is a PS4 exclusive title, meaning that you wouldn't be able to play it on your PS3.Mortal Combat X
One of the most brutal fighting games ever made, Mortal Kombat was a rage in 90s, and there are many reasons for that. For starters, it offered straightforward gameplay. The pace of the game guaranteed that every session turns into some frantic button mashing. What excited the gamers most were the brutal fatalities, where the winner gets a chance to shred the opponent to pieces with stylish moves. Even today, in the age of the consoles, the game franchise has a strong fan following. The upcoming game, dubbed Mortal Combat X packs in enough gore to please Mortal Kombat fans. You've been warned, people with soft-heart should not watch the trailer.Halo 5: Guardians
Regarded as the best FPS on consoles, Halo is one of the most successful games on the Xbox. So much that the franchise has sold over 50 million copies, raking in 3.4 Billion dollars. The game puts you right in the middle of an intergalactic war fought between humans and alien Covenant forces. You're part of a group of heavily armoured soldiers called Spartans. The game will pack in a powerful graphics engine to take advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware. Since it's developed by 343 Industries (subsidiary of Microsoft Studios), the title is going to be Xbox One exclusive. By the way, your Windows Phone AI assistant Cortana comes from the Halo universe.Inside
Limbo showed the world that a great game need not flaunt fancy 3D graphics. Clever gameplay is all it takes to draw the gamers in. This side-scrolling puzzle game has received universal critical acclaim. In 2010, many reviewers rated this minimalist game higher than most multi-million AAA titles. After this runaway success, Danish game developer Playdead prepping to launch a new platformer called Inside. The upcoming game has a gloomy dystopian tone much like what we have experienced in Limbo. You can't call it colourful, but it does display more shades of black, blue, and red compared to its predecessor. Inside will first launch for the XBox One, followed by PC.
