31st Dec 2019In the present age of globalization where humans are unidirectionally focused on growth and development, one aspect of life which is very integral for the survival is utterly neglected. This neglected horizon is the environment we are talking about. In the busy hassle of life humans fail to pay attention to their environment, health and can do very little about their lifestyle. In addition to this the major problem which humans need to overcome is their susceptibility to remain unaware where they do not have even the minutest hint of the gruesome effect of pollution and most importantly the causes of pollution.
The major concern arising from such situation is the ignorance of citizens where they are far away from the reality and very peacefully continue to live in their paradise of illusion. One of the illusion being that we are safe from the outside air pollution within the closed vicinity of a vehicles like car under the effect of AC. But in reality, pollution inside a closed vehicle can be higher than outside. This is even more detrimental against being exposed to the open contaminated air. Because in the first place AC is not an alternative for air purification. The AC systems do not filter out PM 2.5, PM 10 and other pollutants from the air. Secondly by closing the windows of the vehicle you are blocking the free flow of air making it stagnant which gets even more degraded as the carbon dioxide released by the passengers sitting inside has got no escape.
Moreover, according to the statics provided from government data, around 3.1 million cars are registered in Delhi where 1000 new cars keep getting added on an average every day. Apart from cars, the survey reveals that Delhi has 500 school vans, highlighting the vulnerability of children to air pollution as well as has serious health implications on full day cab drivers and car riders.
Keeping in mind these factors, scientist duo from AIIMS and IIT, Dr. Shashi Ranjan and Yogesh Agarwal has invented Airlens Car Air Sanitizer to curb the tolling air pollution in the city and protect the citizens from the menace of Air Pollution.
Airlens is a philosophy and not a product which is invented to make the air inside the enclosed car crystal clear and completely pure. It is world’s most effective air purifier designed and developed in India for Indian conditions. It can be placed inside the car replacing existing cabin/AC filter and in less than 2 minutes the air inside the car is purified as per WHO standard. The innovation is very commendable as it doesn’t offer air flow resistance, thanks to world’s first Active Molecular Technology. The device comes with its own entourage of advantages from purifying air immediately to saving car battery energy. In addition to all these qualities, it is not bulky and can be placed in car’s dashboard or bonnet and is extremely affordable where it comes at 1/10th of the cost of any conventional air purifier. Currently, it is available for cars but team is planning to launch it for school buses soon.
Prior to this duo had also invented nasal filters and helped people save themselves from deadly pollution.
