Top Mobile Design Trends In 2016

The world of mobile designing has undergone a sea change. And ten years from now, it will again be completely different. Today, more than just looks and outward representation, there are features and other aspects that are determining the success of the physical product, and also applications in the phones. Here are some mobile designing trends in 2016 that designers need to work around, to ensure that they stand out in the market:

- User Interface experience

Most of the devices, being Android, have the added advantage of being customizable, with new interfaces being built by each phone maker, as the features of the handset they make. The ease with which users can go about their tasks, the clarity and flexibility, make handsets a discussion point amongst competition. The aim is to mainly give users that much more customized an experience.

- Larger Screens

With the utility features of the phones increasing, and apps playing a major role in it, a lot of the millennial using the phones are getting comfortable with larger screens. There is always the demand for the more compact size, but larger screens like 5.5-inch and above, are becoming increasingly common for those who like to use their devices to their full potential.

-  Swiping and natural gestures functionality

One of the most common features, swiping, used to be fairly uncommon in design till a few years ago, but it seems to have changed into something all too common in today's times. Most of the handsets being meted out in the market are those which users tend to use with a single hand, which would prompt for a swipe gesture to be a part of the phone features. Also, due to the use of sensors, some of the other functions such as call receipt, or volume adjustment, can also now be performed with swipe gestures on the phone.

- Biometrics functionality

Iris scanners, fingerprint scanners etc. In 2016, especially with feature-loading being an underlying theme, why not biometric functionality become a part of handsets? Other than great 'touch' features, the use of biometrics for further security and making a more intuitive and personalized experience, is what is highlight feature in high end devices, and heavier applications.

- Animation with functionality

Earlier animation used to only be a small facet of the apps, but now animation is making apps standout, in terms of user experience, especially in making apps more intuitive, and having an end experience that’s richer for the user. In fact, e-commerce sites are using animation in order to create a lot more rich and immersive experiences.

- Well planned color palettes

While robustness and functionality of applications and the physical product determine the success of mobile designing, but color palettes is one of the things that make a difference. While it might not be the most standout point, but softer color palettes, as compared to loud, bright and imposing choice of colors in apps, might actually determine whether customers actually use the app as frequently as intended, or have a favorable outlook towards it.
