03rd Dec 2015Being primarily a taxi aggregator, Ola did not back-out when people needed a mode of transportation in the flood hit areas of Chennai.
Ola started it all by sending out boats under the initiative OlaBoats with professional rowers and fishermen to rescue stranded citizens in the flood hit regions of Chennai.
Along with this, the company has created safety zones and is supplying food and first aid as part of relief for the crisis.
While we are proud of Ola for this, the messaging app 'Lookup' also announced recently that it has teamed up with non-profit organization Bhumi to collect clothes and other materials and donate them to the flood victims.
Well, this doesn't end here. Many other tech-startup companies have stood by the city during its deadliest moments. Urbanclap is said to be performing free pest control services fearing the spread of Dengue and Malaria.
Also, Zoomcar is offering free pick up and drop facilities for flood victims to the nearest hospital.
Along with this, Zomato has announced a new scheme where the company purchases one meal from their end for every meal ordered by users to serve the flood hit citizens.
While these companies are standing on the ground doing their best, Practo has recently uploaded a spreadsheet with phone numbers of verified doctors and hospitals available to help the flood victims.
Similarly, many telecom companies are offering free currency recharges and free talk time and Internet facilities. But, we still are not sure how far has it come to the best usage in the flood hit regions where there is no electricity and no network signals!
If you are aware of any company that is standing on the ground to serve the city of Chennai during the floods, do leave a comment down below with details.
