20th Nov 2015Internet has become part and parcel of our daily lives and staying without it seems to be simply impossible.
Here are some suggestions to actually cut down your mobile data usage, be it 2G, 3G or 4G.
First and foremost, we recommend you to schedule app updates over WiFi. It is pretty common that apps many times update even when you are on your cellular data. But, updating apps on WiFi not only lowers your mobile data usage, but also helps a lot in preventing the device from heating up.
Another important tip would be to enable data compression while browsing or you can also enable data saver feature if you are browsing net through the Google Chrome mobile app.
Along with this, Opera Max is considerable a pretty good option available on Google Play Store. It helps in compressing data while watching videos and photos. This helps you to actually watch more videos.
While many of us are fond of watching videos being forwarded on WhatsApp, it is a data killer when you are connected via mobile data. That's the reason why we would recommend you to disable the 'media auto-download' feature on WhatsApp and download them when you are on a WiFi connection and watch them at your convenience.
Auto syncing of your mails will also consume your mobile data to a great extreme. So, it would be better if you can sync mails and attachments when you are on a WiFi connection and later switch the sync off to make sure you don't end up consuming 20 MB in just syncing a bunch of promotional mails!
Finally, since Google Maps is now available for offline usage in India, it would definitely be a better option if you download the map when you are connected on a WiFi network so that Google Maps won't consume hefty mobile data while you are searching for a destination.
